    French Pear Cosmopolitan

Valentine or no, this year you don't have to celebrate alone. With a husband in the restaurant business assuredly to be working, I have intentions of curling up on the couch with my snuggly fur ball and binging Sex & the City reruns. In true SATC style, I'll be sipping on this ultra classic cocktail with a new twist. Like designer styles from decades past reinvented, what better way to toast the fictional ladies that brought this drink to it's prime?

    Pear Cosmopolitans.

Yes, it's a thing. It's simple. And this particular vodka makes it French. French like Carrie's ex-beau Alexander Petrovsky. One thing is sure, you don't have to have watched a single episode of the HBO series to enjoy this classy liquid treat.

Some things never go out of style

Like a lifelong sisterhood or a staple pair of black stilettos, some things never go out of style. The cosmo? It's sticking around like the Christmas sweets are still stuck on my hips.

Traditional Cosmopolitan with a Pear Twist

New to the martini scene? This traditional cocktail with a pear twist is a fabulous place to start. Sweet and subtle fruit scents on the inhale as your lips approach the glass. The first swirl of the cool liquid on the tongue carries the slight sting of a strong cocktail. The addition of triple sec, lime juice and cranberry balance out the raw vodka sting like the scales of cocktail justice.

As you savor each sip, the pleasant light pear flavor stays present without being overly flowery or sweet. When picking up your ingredients at the store, Grey Goose La Poire pear vodka is highly recommended. It will contribute plenty of pear flavor without any chemical notes often associated with flavored vodkas.

Go as fancy or low budget as you'd like for the triple sec (orange liqueur), lime juice and cranberry juice. Whether fresh lime or using the Rose's, the contribution is minimal and the star is the pear. Save your dollars for snacks.

    Easy Assembly

To craft this cocktail with ease, add all the ingredients to a martini shaker.

    Add ice.

    Shake.

    Pour.

And if you're feeling fancy, add a slice of pear for garnish. (Pssst, it makes for a great booze soaked snack after you've drained the glass.)

Traditional Cosmopolitan with a Pear Twist

So whether you plan on dining out in celebrated bliss of eternal love or desire a night of Netflix marathons in your sweatpants, there's one delicious thing you can do. Drink like a designer loving gal, searching for eternal romance in the big city - without the price tag. As our good friend Carrie has said, "Somewhere out there is another little freak who will love us and understand us and kiss our three heads and make it all better.”
