Equipment

  • Muddler
  • cocktail shaker
  • double strainer

Ingredients

  • 3 medium to large strawberries cut in half
  • 4 slices cucumber about ¼" thick
  • 1 fl oz simple syrup
  • 1 fl oz triple sec
  • ¾ fl oz fresh squeezed lime juice
  • 2 fl oz tequila

Instructions

  • In the cocktail shaker, muddle the cucumber and strawberries until a 'pulp' forms.
  • Add the simple syrup, triple sec, lime juice, tequila, and ice.
  • Shake vigorously and strain over your double strainer into a glass with ice.  You may have to shake the strainer or move the pulp around to extract all the cocktail.
  • Garnish however you desire and enjoy!

Notes

  • Silver tequila is my favorite for making margaritas, it's solid tequila flavor, generally less expensive depending on the brand, and easy to find.  If I'm having a 'treat yo'self' moment, I'll splurge on reposado.
  • If you don't have a fancy bartender's double strainer, any fine mesh strainer will do the trick.
  • If you don't have a muddler, the handle of a wooden spoon or spatula works too!
  • This margarita is great with a little salt or sugar on the rim.
