Sweet Beet + Gin Martini

Sweet beet + gin martini is a surprise in all ways.  Slightly earthly beet flavor complimented in a sweet simple syrup is the perfect match for herbaceous and floral gin.  Shake it cold and sip on it as you unwind.

Ingredients

Beet Simple Syrup

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon beet powder

Sweet Beet + Gin Martini

  • 1 ½ ounces beet simple syrup
  • ½ ounce fresh lemon juice
  • 1 ½ ounces gin
  • Optional: 1 egg white and pinch of sugar

Instructions

Beet Simple Syrup

  • In a small sauce pan combine sugar, water and beet powder.  Whisk together over high heat until it starts to boil and sugar has dissolved.  Remove from heat and let cool.

Sweet Beet + Gin Martini

  • In a cocktail shaker combine the beet simple syrup, fresh lemon juice and gin.  Fill with ice and shake vigorously.  Strain into your favorite martini glass.
  • Optional: for a frothy garnish, add egg white and a pinch of sugar to a clean cocktail shaker with ice.  Shake vigorously until egg what is  light and foamy then pour on top of your Sweet Beet + Gin Martini.
