Description
Low maintenance holiday cooking! Winter spiced holiday ham brings the classic flavors of clove and cinnamon with a hint of spicy ginger in a thick, caramelized sugar glaze over a no-fuss, easy to cook holiday ham.
Ingredients
- 4 to 5 pound boneless ham
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon ground clove
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground mustard
- 2 tablespoons molasses
- 1 to 2 teaspoons water
Instructions
- Prep. Preheat the oven to 300°F. Place the ham flat side down in a baking dish. Fill the baking dish with 1/2 inch to 1-inch water. Cover with foil.
- Bake. Bake the ham for 15 minutes per pound or until the internal temperature reaches 140°F.
- Mix. In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, spices, molasses, and water. Use less water for a thick glaze and more water if you want just a touch of glaze over the ham.
- Broil. Set the oven to broil. Drain most of the water from the baking dish. Spread the glaze over the top of the ham and down the sides. Broil on high for 3 to 5 minutes until the sugar starts to caramelize.
- Enjoy! Serve right away.
Notes
- This glaze can be used on a bone-in or boneless ham. Depending on the size of your ham, you may need to 1.5x to 2x the recipe to coat the entire ham. This recipe as is will coat an entire 4 to 5 pound boneless, spiral cut ham.
