Puff Pastry Braid
Buttery and flaky pastry filled with creamy, tangy mascarpone, fresh strawberries, and basil. A strawberry pastry braid is a great dessert or breakfast pastry that is easy to make and looks impressive!
In a bowl, combine mascarpone cheese with sugar. Sprinkle the puff pastries with basil and roll out each sheet to a rectangle. Transfer to parchment paper.
Roll Out the Pastry
Spread the mascarpone on the center of both sheets of puff pastry. Top with slices of strawberries. In a small bowl, whisk together egg and water.
Slice the puff pastry on each side of the filling on an angle. Brush the strips with the egg mixture. Fold over the ends. Fold over strip by strip to braid the pastry.
Brush each pastry with the egg mixture and sprinkle with raw sugar. Place on a baking sheet and bake at 400°F for 35 to 40 minutes.
