It’s cool to talk about margaritas on a Monday morning, right?? If talking about this Watermelon Basil Margarita the Monday before Cinco de Mayo is wrong, well…I just don’t want to be right I suppose. Refreshing, hydrating watermelon + fresh sweet basil + a little taste of spicy, smokey, sweet with each sip.

Might as well make a pitcher because these are going to disappear quick! Like that time I needed to ‘test’ the recipe again 😉

If you were around for my recent Strawberry Jalapeño Margarita post, you enjoyed a brief little rabbit trail about bar utensils. Just in case, here are some of my most used bar equipment – the cocktail tea strainer being an important factor to this recipe!

Sweet, spice and all the nice

Once you have your sweet basil, watermelon tequila dream in a glass ready you are welcome to pour it on ice and dive right in. But if a little spice is what your searching for I have just the thing. This Chili Sugar Rim is all the things.

Sweet and a little crunchy from the turbinado sugar texture. Smokey chili powder and spicy heat finish on the back of the tongue from a touch of cayenne pepper.

Things were good before and they just. got. better.

So here’s a toast to Mondays not need to be quite so ‘Monday’ after all. Especially when the involve Watermelon Basil Margaritas with Chili Sugar Rim.
